P1 Enrolment is Monday 28th January – Friday 1st February 2019
If your child will be five years of age on or before 29th February 2020, they are eligible to enrol for Primary 1 for August 2019.
To enrol your child, or for further information on completing the online form, the enrolment process, catchment areas, Gaelic Medium education, school transport and placing requests visit https://www.highland.gov.uk/enrol
Please use the online enrolment.
If for any reason you are unable to complete the online enrollment, then you can enrol your child at the school between Monday 28th Jan – Thursday 31st Jan, 9.30am – 11.30am or 1.30pm – 2.30pm
What is deferred entry?
If your child’s birthday is between September 2019 and February 2020 (e.g. still 4 years old on the school start date in August 2019) you are entitled to defer entry to primary school if you believe your child is not ready for school. Only children whose birthdays fall in January or February will be considered for funding for a subsequent year at nursery, unless there are special circumstances. Further information is available in the ‘Guidance on Deferred and Early Entry to School’ available online at http://www.highland.gov.uk/info/878/schools/11/school_enrolment
Which is my local school?
Each school has a defined geographical catchment area (with the exception of denominational and some Gaelic Medium schools) and normally your child will attend your local catchment area primary school. School catchment maps are available online, you can search for your nearest schools at https://www.highland.gov.uk/downloads/download/678/school_catchment_maps
Can I request a school other than my local school?
You may make a placing request for your child to attend a school other than your local school. Information on placing requests can be found on the Highland Council website. It is important, however, that your child is registered at their local catchment area school in advance of making a placing request application.
Please note too that if a placing request is granted, transport is the responsibility of parents.
If you have any queries, please contact us.

At Hilton Early Learning and Childcare we are pleased to be able to offer a structured 4 week Peep course which will support your child’s transition into Primary 1. This is achieved by covering a range of topics such as Early Literacy and Early Maths, making new friends and coping with change.
The aim of the sessions are to support parents and carers in their knowledge of their child’s development and expectations of learning through fun & interesting experiences which can all be carried out in the home setting. The sessions will last no longer than an hour and you would attend with your child. The sessions are informal and fun with the emphasis being on parents/carers and children learning together.
The sessions will be run by Judith Dougal (Early Years Graduate) and an EYP. If you would be interested in attending a taster session on the 1st February (9.15am or 1pm) please put your name on the list in the foyer or contact Judith.
Happy New Year to you all. A wee reminder that the new term starts on Monday 7th January (usual time).

We would also like to thank you for your understanding in the delay to the opening of our new kitchen.
